Singer Sheryl Crow has received an honorary doctorate from her alma mater in Missouri.
The If It Makes You Happy hitmaker previously graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor's degree in Music, Composition, and Education.
At the age of 21, Crow began teaching music at a nearby primary school but she eventually shelved her daily duties in the hope of becoming a star.
And after successfully accomplishing her dream, she has been recognised by college officials and gifted the highest accolade.
She says, "I just got an honorary doctorate to the University of Missouri, which is where I went. So you can call me Dr. Crow."
And the singer, who recently returned to the mid-western state to pick up her new degree, admits the experience was unnerving because she ran into many of her former students at the ceremony.
She adds, "I saw quite a few of my students there. And a lot of my kids are married and have their own kids now... They were very sweet."
