Irish folk star Christy Moore has apologised to fans for cancelling two shows in Dublin, Ireland due to ill health.

The singer was due to perform at the city's Bord Gais Energy Theatre on Tuesday (15Jan13) and Wednesday (16Jan13), but had to scrap both dates when he was struck down with a sore throat.

Moore reveals he saw a doctor about his condition, but was left unable to sing.

In a post on his website, he writes, "Having to cancel these two concerts leaves me feeling dreadful... Yesterday I woke with a sore throat; I went to my doctor as my voice was weak and croaky. This afternoon I tried singing... and nothing came out at all. It was with a heavy heart that I contacted all concerned to tell them I could not sing...

"It is many years since I have had to cancel a performance. It is a low point in my working life."

The two shows have been re-scheduled for 1 and 2 February (13) and tickets will remain valid.
