Sienna's Friend Otis Ferry Cleared Of Criminal Damageby Contributor | 12 February 2008
The son of Roxy Music frontman Bryan Ferry has been cleared of criminal damage after snatching the keys of photographers chasing Sienna Miller.
Pro-hunt campaigner Otis Ferry had been leaving London nightclub Boujis with the actress and his brother Isaac after the 2007 BAFTA awards when they were pursued by paparazzi.
Fearing the snappers planned to follow the Factory Girl star to her home, 25-year-old Ferry removed the ignition keys from The Cars of two of the pursuing photographers.
Ferry admitted to twice exiting Miller's car at traffic lights to take the keys from the cars, but had denied two charges of criminal damage.
And though district judge David Simpson called Ferry's action "impetuous", he said they did not constitute criminal damage.
The two photographers had claimed it cost them almost £600 to replace the keys taken by Ferry, but Miller's testimony regarding the "aggressive" paparazzi helped Ferry avoid the charges.
She told west London magistrates' court on Monday that her party had been "all quite shocked at the way they were driving".
"The reason they were being that reckless is that they wanted to find out where I lived, which makes you feel quite hunted as a woman," the actress said.
"In any situation, if you're a woman and you're running and there are men chasing you, it's a threatening situation," she added.
