British singer/songwriter Gavin Clark has died.

Clark passed away on Monday (16Feb15), but his age and the cause of his death had not been confirmed as Wenn went to press.

The news was announced in a statement posted on his official Facebook.com page, which reads, "Gavin Clark tragically passed away last night. Until a full statement is released, we ask.. (you) to respect the family's request for privacy at this time, so that they can grieve in peace - Gavin Clark management."

He was known for his work with folk band Clayhill and indie group Sunhouse, while he was also recognised for his contributions to James Lavelle's band Unkle and his solo efforts.

Clark had a close friendship with English director Shane Meadows, and composed songs for several of his films including This Is England and Dead Man's Shoes.

The musician was also the subject of Meadows' 2009 documentary The Living Room.
