Vegetarian rocker Sir Paul McCartney has filmed a new video urging educators to cut back on the meat they serve at British schools.
MCCartney's eight-minute message debuted at The Sunday Times Festival of Education in London over the weekend (23Jun12) and it has now been posted on YouTube.com by officials at the Meat Free Monday organisation.
Urging school bosses who have not adopted the meat-free Mondays trend to seriously consider signing up for a healthier start to the week, the former Beatles star says, "Younger people... (have said), 'We really love this idea, because it gives us some way of helping to save our future, helping to save this planet and helping to avoid the catastrophes that climate change could cause'."
