Rocker Slash is urging fans to sign a petition to save a Los Angeles animal sanctuary from bankruptcy.
The former Guns N' Roses star has pledged his support to bosses at the Wildlife WayStation, who recently fired a third of the staff and are struggling to pay $142,000 (£89,000) in monthly food costs.
They have now drafted a petition asking California Governor Jerry Brown for increased federal funding to prevent closure.
In a post on his Twitter.com page, Slash writes, "Save America's oldest, most respected animal sanctuary from bankruptcy - force change."
The guitarist also posted a link to a virtual petition, which states, "By keeping these animal refuges alive and funded, hundreds of exotic animals are saved. Without this, many innocent creatures are facing certain death."
