Welsh snooker star Matthew Stevens has been banned from the road after admitting a drink-driving charge.

The 35-year-old player appeared at Llanelli Magistrates' Court in Wales and pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while over the legal alcohol limit stemming from his arrest on 13 December (12).

Stevens, who is ranked number 14 in the world, was handed a $640 (£400) fine and ordered to pay court costs, while he was also banned from driving for 12 months.

He was warned he faces a prison sentence if he is caught behind the wheel while disqualified.
