Snooki Hit With $7 Million Lawsuit Over Merchandising
Jersey Shore star Snooki, aka Nicole Polizzi, appears to have gotten her fingers burned after making the foray into the business world. The reality television star has been hit with a $7 million counterclaim in her legal battle with a licensing company.
According to the New York Post, Polizzi signed a deal with SRG Ventures to launch a line of Snooki-related merchandise last year, but later ended the deal alleging that the company didn't fulfil its apparent obligation to land her enough money or branding partnerships. Vehemently denying the claims, SRG have now fired back at the Jersey Shore star, claiming she and her management team sabotaged the deal by negotiating with brands behind the company's back. A representative for Snooki told the Post, "Ms. Polizzi disputes SRG's version of the facts and looks forward to her day in court". After rising to prominence on the MTV reality show, Snooki became a well-known figure in popular culture and was parodied in the South Park episode 'It's a Jersey Thing' as well as caricatured by Bobby Moynihan on Saturday Night Live. This year, she has guested on The View, The ELLEN DEGENERES Show, JIMMY KIMMEL Live and the Late Show with David Letterman.
The fifth season of Jersey Shore, which follows Snooki and her friends spending each summer together, premieres on January 5, 2011 on Mtv.
