Snoop Dogg wants to spend his 40th birthday with his grandma.

The 'Science' rapper - who reaches the milestone age on October 20 - does not want to throw a big party and will likely just spend it with close loved ones including wife Shante Taylor because the only thing he is happy about is "being alive".

He said: "More people worry about my birthday than I do.

"I'm more concerned about my grandmother's birthday, my wife's birthday. I'm more about giving.

"I'm not into doing things for myself because a lot of great things have already happened to me. To be alive and spend time with my grandma is enough."

Despite that, Snoop - whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr. - wants to continue to spread the message of "funk" as he grows older.

He said in an interview with the Daily Star newspaper: "The funk will never die, as long as Snoop Dogg is here, my seeds have been planted.

"I planted so many seeds in young MCs all around the world. What's happening right now is the funk is having a reinvention. People are cooking with their own flavours."

He recently revealed he would like to make a move to the UK at some point.

Snoop said: "Would I live in the UK? I wouldn't mind living here. I think I could really enjoy myself.

"You know what, I'm going to say this and I mean it, if all else fails and I've got to shake, rattle 'n' roll and get on the woo-wop, this is going to be my heeyah zone. Yessuh."
