South Korean director Park Chul-Soo has died in a road traffic accident. He was 64.

The filmmaker was crossing a street in the city of Yongin, South Korea early on Tuesday morning (19Feb13) when he was hit by a car, according to police.

Chul-soo made his debut with 1978 melodrama Captain of the Alley and became one of the most active filmmakers in South Korean cinema in the 1980s and 1990s.

He was well known for sexually explicit films, including last year's (12) B.E.D. He was working on a new movie called Love Conceptually at the time of his death, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Fellow South Korean filmmaker Jang Jin has taken to his Twitter.com page to express his grief over the tragedy, writing, "My heart is growing stiff."
