Bruce Springsteen has been forced to deny claims of adultery for the second time in three years after he was named in a couple's divorce proceedings.

Arthur Kelly filed divorce papers last month which claimed his wife Ann has "committed adultery with one Bruce Springsteen ... at various times and places too numerous to mention".

Mrs Kelly has denied her husband's allegations, with her lawyer Noel Tonneman telling People magazine they were the actions of "a jealous man".

And having been accused of an affair in a separate case in 2006, Springsteen has reiterated the same statement of denial in relation to the Kellys' divorce.

"I hesitate to use this web site for anything personal, believing it should remain a place where fans of my music can come free of the distractions that occasionally arise with the rest of my job," he wrote in 2006.

"However, due to the unfounded and ugly rumours that have appeared in the papers over the last few days, I felt they shouldn't pass without comment.

"[Wife] Patti [Scialfa] and I have been together for 18 years — the best 18 years of my life. We have built a beautiful family we love and want to protect, and our commitment to one another remains as strong as the day we were married."

A spokesperson said the singer - widely known as The Boss - stood by the above statement in response to Arthur Kelly's claims.

Springsteen is headlining the Glastonbury Festival this summer as well as performing at Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park.
