Stars including Colin Firth, Stephen Fry and Joanna Lumley have thrown their support behind a campaign for voting reform in Britain ahead of an upcoming referendum.
The country will go to the polls on 5 May (11) to decide whether to introduce a new system called the Alternative Vote and a number of famous faces have signed up to the Yes To Fairer Votes campaign as the big day approaches.
A campaign leaflet was distributed to households this week (beg28Mar11) featuring a declaration of support from Oscar-winning actor Firth, who says, "This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to change our clapped out (old) voting system for good, so I'm voting Yes."
Lumley adds, "I hope the Yes campaign is successful. It will really help our democratic voices be more fairly heard."
