A host of Cyndi Lauper's famous friends have flocked to Twitter.com to congratulate the singer on her triumph at the Tony Awards as her Broadway show Kinky Boots landed six coveted trophies.

Lauper, who wrote the score for the hit stage show, enjoyed a night to remember as her project dominated theatre's biggest event, landing the award for Best Musical, as well as nods for choreography, sound design and an acting honour for star Billy Porter.

The Girls Just Want To Have Fun hitmaker was singled out for praise as she picked up the prize for best Original Score, and she posted a picture of herself holding the trophy on Twitter.com with the caption, "I won!!!"

Lauper's famous friends have also been quick to congratulate her on her success, with actor David Boreanaz writing in a post on the social networking website, "Cyndi Lauper sending love and laughter. Congratulations!"

Rosie O'Donnell adds, "History made tonight by Cyndi Lauper!!! - I love u (sic)" and actress Emily Deschanel offers, "Yay to Cyndi Lauper for her Tony Award!! So exciting! She is the best!"

Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who hosted the Tony Awards in New York City on Sunday night (09Jun13), concludes, "So excited I got to give Cyndi Lauper her well deserved Tony for Kinky Boots."
