Stars including Beyonce, Justin Bieber and Lady GaGa have sent their congratulations to the USA gymnastics team, and specifically 16 year-old Gabby Douglas, who added an all-round individual gold to the one she'd gained as part of the team event. To top all that off, she took to Twitter to reveal that the head honcho himself, President Barack Obama had also been on the blower to pass on his congratulations. It doesn't get much better than that.

Douglas had already won the team event alongside Jordyn Wieber, MCKayla Maroney and Kyla Ross on Tuesday (July 31st) and added her second gold after taking the lead from the opening event and never letting up. Her feats were inspirational to some of the US' biggest entertainment stars. Beyonce wrote on her blog "Huge congratulations to 16 year old Olympic gold medallist Gabby Douglas - wow - what a thrill to watch you take this gold! I can tell you've been working hard for so long - enjoy this moment, it's yours. Thank you for inspiring all of us!"

Bieber and Gaga both sent congratulations via Twitter to the team in general, with additional plaudits for Douglas coming from Denise Richards, who wrote "Gorgeous girl @gabrielledoug GOLD!!!!!!!!! so happy for you! your mom looks so proud. congrats!!" and Nicki Minaj, who commented "*kisses to Gabby* what an amazing little firecracker." And to top it all? After the first of her gold medals, she received a special phone call: "Just talked to the President of the United States!!! WOW such and honor and a amazing feeling!!" the athlete Tweeted.
