Stephenie Meyer, the author of the Twilight saga, says she hasn't read E.L James' bestselling book 'Fifty Shades of Grey'. The erotic novel originated as Twilight fan-fiction, though the creator of the vampire series appears in no rush to read the sadomasochistic tale that she inspired.
Speaking to MTV News, Meyer confessed, "I haven't read it", before bluntly asserting, "I mean, that's really not my genre, not my thing.I've heard about it; I haven't really gotten into it that much. Good on her-she's doing well. That's great!". Stephenie is taking no credit for the novel - which has sold 10 million copies worldwide - saying, "It might not exist in the exact form that it's in [without Twilight].[but] Obviously, [James] had a story in her, and so it would've come out in some other way".
Meyer spoke more fondly of the 'Hunger Games' novels and the subsequent movie, which proved a smash hit at the cinema earlier this year. The author said, "I was really excited they were turning it into a movie. Of course, then you have that, 'Are they gonna screw it up?' 'cause it's so awesome, but they didn't; it's awesome. I'm really looking forward to the next one. I have fingers crossed for a couple of casting choices". Perhaps she is gunning for Robert Pattinson to land the role of Finnick Odair?
