Lady GaGa, will.i.am and Stevie Wonder all celebrated Sting's 60th birthday at a charity concert in New York on Saturday (01.10.11).

A host of musical stars performed at the show - orgainsed by poverty charity The Robin Hood Foundation - and paid tribute to The Police frontman, who turned 60 yesterday (02.10.11).

Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Robert Downey, Jr. and Mary J. Blige also took to the stage, performing tracks from the 'Fields of Gold' hitmaker's back catalogue.

Sting took to the stage to duet with both Lady Gaga on 'King Of Pain' and Bruce on The Police's 'Can't Stand Losing You', before all the artists gathered to perform 'Every Breath You Take'.

Lady Gaga tweeted: "Performed last night with my sweetie pie STING for his birthday! Sang one of my favorite songs of his "KING OF PAIN": (sic)"

Sting joked to the crowd during the concert: "Sixty feels comfortable, I've always felt sort of old,"

before ending the night with a solo performance of 'Message in a Bottle'.

Afterward will.i.am tweeted: "This show is crazy beautiful in nyc tonight. @Robertdownyjr is so freaking talented..."What the hell"...the dude can act, sing & play a black man (sic)"

The concert featured a star studded audience, including Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson, Jake Gyllenhaal, Darren Aronofsky and Melanie Griffith.

Sting and his wife, Trudie Styler, also invited 32 soldiers from Britain's Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, who have all completed missions in Afghanistan. The evening raised over £2.5 million for charity.
