Hurricane Sandy not only took down houses, trees, powerlines, traffic lights and billboards, it also took down virtually all the major syndicated television programs. Broadcasting and Cable observed that such shows as Entertainment Tonight, Judge Judy, and Wheel of Fortune were all eliminated from the Nielsen ratings chart last week because in much of the nation they were preemmpted by hurricane coverage. Anytime a show's coverage drops below 90 percent, B&C explained, Nielsen breaks it out of the ratings, which was the case for all nationally cleared shows for the entire week. Only two shows that are not cleared nationally made it onto the Nielsen list, NBCUniversal's Access Hollywood Live and Warner Bros.' Let's Ask America, an interactive game show that 14 Scripps-owned stations air.
