Scottish singer Susan Boyle has made the live final of Britain's Got Talent after her first live performance on television.

The 48-year-old church volunteer shot to fame last month after her audition of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables became an online phenomenon, with almost 60 million people viewing a YouTube video of her performance.

Boyle has since earned several celebrity fans, including Demi Moore, and appeared on the Larry King and Oprah Winfrey chat shows.

She appeared last of eight acts in the first of five nightly shows and despite a nervy start to her performance of Memory from Cats, completed a rousing performance to triumph in the public vote.

Boyle gave a victory dance for the studio audience and judging panel after hearing the result and told presenters Ant and Dec the experience of performing again was "fantastic, absolutely fantastic".

Asked about increased pressure on her performance since her emergence into the public eye, she replied: "What pressure, I really enjoyed myself, I enjoyed every second. I'd do it again!"

Dance troupe Diversity were the other act to reach the final of those who performed on Sunday after the judges chose to send them through ahead of ten-year-old singer Natalie Okri.

The judging panel of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan drew criticism for the manner in which they confirmed Diversity's progression to the final, with young Natalie clearly distressed and needing comforting from Ant and Dec after her elimination.

Posting on microblogging site Twitter, Lily Allen wrote: "I think Britain's Got Talent is verging on child cruelty. That poor little Natalie girl."

Two more acts will be picked each night this week ahead of the live final on May 30th.
