Liam Neeson's action sequel Taken 2 has landed at the top of the U.K. box office chart, with opening weekend (05-07Oct12) takings of $11.8 million (£7.4 million).

The crime thriller beat Looper into second place, with ticket sales of just $2.4 million (£1.5 million) in its second week of release, and new horror movie Sinister is third, with $2.2 million (£1.4 million).

Harry Potter star Emma Watson's new movie The Perks of Being a Wallflower limped into fourth place, with takings of just $1.3 million (£828,000), and animated comedy ParaNorman rounds out the new top five with $1.2 million (£798,000).
