Taken 2 has claimed the top spot at the U.S. box office for a second weekend (12-14Oct12) in a row, pulling in $22.5 million (£14.3 million) in ticket sales.

Liam Neeson's second outing as retired Cia operative Bryan Mills has proved a huge hit with American audiences, and adds the latest haul to the $50 million (£31.25 million) it made in its first weekend.

Ben Affleck's critically-acclaimed Argo is at number two after grossing $20.1 million (£12.5 million), and Ethan Hawke's creepy horror Sinister comes in third with takings of $18.3 million (£11.4 million).

Spooky animated hit Hotel Transylvania ($17.3 million/£10.7 million) and comedy Here Comes The Boom ($12 million/£7.4 million) round out the top five.
