The court-appointed attorney overseeing the estate of late actor Gary Coleman has declared there will be no funeral service for the tragic TV star.
The Diff'rent Strokes star died on 28 May (10) after suffering a brain haemorrhage at his home in Utah.
His ex-wife Shannon Price organised plans to lay Coleman to rest in Utah shortly after his passing, but the service was cancelled earlier this month (Jun10) following a dispute with his grieving parents, who were found to be his next of kin.
A legal battle has since erupted over Coleman's estate after the actor failed to leave clear instructions regarding his assets.
Price, who continued to live with the star following their 2008 divorce, launched a bid to take over the estate last week (ends11Jun10), just days before a 2005 will, signed by Coleman, was discovered. That will named his old friend and business associate Anna Gray as estate executor.
The estate case went to a Utah court on Monday (14Jun10), when a judge placed Robert Jeffs as special administrator of Coleman's estate until the validity of Price and Gray's claims could be determined.
On Wednesday (16Jun10), Jeffs revealed he would abide by the wishes Coleman expressed in the 2005 will, which specified his desire not to have a funeral service.
The attorney states Coleman's remains will be cremated and his ashes and property securely stored away until a final decision could be made on the estate executor, a process which could take several months.
Earlier this week (beg14Jun10), Gray won a legal battle to view Coleman's body before the actor was cremated. A judge gave her 48 hours to visit the funeral home where the actor lies in repose.
