The Expendables 2 has stayed at No.1 on the North American box-office chart for the second week running, reports the BBC, and remains ahead of The Bourne Legacy.

All action, all-star cast blockbuster Expendables 2 is proving to be a relentless earner according to the North American box office charts. The film starring Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis took $13.5m, which puts it firmly ahead of the fourth Bourne film, The Bourne Legacy, which lays second with $9.3m. ParaNorman, about a boy who helps save his town from a zombie invasion, completes the top three. The Expendables 2 hasn't been received too well by the critics, with most reviews saying it doesn't live up to the original Expendables film, but with it's high octane thrills and legendary cast, nostalgic action-junkies are gobbling up the franchise. It has a way to go to recoup it's $100m outlay, but those in the know say the film will at least break even.

Elsewhere in the chart lurks 2016: Obama's America, a conservative critique of Obama's presidency, which gives a hypothetical view of the future of America should the current president be elected for a second term. "It's extremely rare for a documentary to break into the top 10, but August can be a land of opportunity for smaller films," Paul Dergarabedian, box office analyst for Hollywood.com said. "Also, there's the fact that this is a very conservative film. Normally, it's Michael Moore-branded documentaries, the liberal documentaries, that make all the money."
