THE Flaming Lips honoured late SPARKLEHORSE star MARK LINKOUS during their set at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival - with an onstage tribute to the tragic singer.
The musician, who toured with the band in 2003, was found dead in an alleyway outside a friend's home in Knoxville, Tennessee earlier this month (06Mar10) after he reportedly shot himself in the heart.
Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne paid tribute to their late pal on stage at the Texas music festival on Friday (12Mar10) by dedicating their track Waitin' for a Superman to his memory, according to Austin360.com.
Coyne told the crowd at Austin Music Hall the track is about “making your own happiness".
