'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay' begins filming in September.
The third instalment of the trilogy, adapted from Suzanne Collins' best-selling novels, is scheduled to begin production later this year, just before the release of the second action-packed chapter, 'Catching Fire', on November 22.
Film news service Production Weekly tweeted: ''THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY PART 1 is scheduled to begin production September 16th with locations in Atlanta and Boston.''
Surprised fan @kevinmise replied: ''already? Wow I'm not ready for any of this. This summer I'm rereading the tril. (sic)''
The final part of the dystopian saga - which is brought to life on the big screen by Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth - will be broken into two chapters, both directed by 'Cathching Fire' helmer Francis Lawrence. The first is due for release in November 2014, and the second part in November 2015.
'Game Change' writer Danny Strong is set to write the script for the two-part film.
Actor Toby Jones recently praised the choice to appoint Lawrence when original director Gary Ross dropped out.
He commented: ''I would say that it's got a different director with different sensibility. I think he'll want to bring his own mark to it.
''It's clichéd, but you want to respect the books that have been very successful, but bring it on a bit.''
