The Hunger Games is going to be a smash hit success, of that we all know, but it seems like the commercial impact of the film looks set to go beyond what any one thought likely with news that many of the advance screenings of the sci-fi film are already sold out US-wide. Gossip site Perez Hilton is reporting that over one million tickets have been sold in the United States in advance of the premiere of film, which stars Jennifer Lawrence in the lead role.
A while back ticket sellers Fandango's executive vice president and general manager Rick Butler had told the New York Daily News "'The Hunger Games' is off to a fantastic start," continuing "We saw the biggest first day advance ticket sales in our company's nearly 12-year history - which is especially impressive for a March release and a non-sequel."Now the film has set a new advance ticket sales record for Fandango, beating the third 'Twilight Saga' film in the process.
Perez Hilton reports that over 2,000 cinemas show times nationwide have already sold out with cinemas having to add additional showing times due to the sheer demand. The blockbuster has already taken in 92 per cent of advance ticket sales ahead of this weekend, proving that all the hype has not been misplaced; with the critics firmly behind it too, who knows what this film could go on to achieve.
