The Hunger Games Trailer Leaves Fans 'Freakin Out'
The first official trailer for The Hunger Games hit the web on Monday (14th November 2011), whetting the appetite of fans eagerly awaiting the big screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins' much loved trilogy.
Reaction was almost entirely positive, with praise heaped on the movie's stunning visuals. There was also excitement at the first glimpse of rocker Lenny Kravitz as Cinna and Hollywood star Woody Harrelson playing the role of Haymitch. There has been much discussion amongst diehard fans concerning the movie adaptation, most notably whether the original novel would lend itself to a big-screen adaptation. Having seen the trailer, Katey Rich of Cinema Blend explained, "(The Hunger Games) isn't nearly as complicated as a Harry Potter book or overwrought as Twilight, but it poses plenty of challenges to filmmakers who want to both appeal to the book's diehard fans and make, y'know, a half decent movie out of it". Megan Scott, of the Hunger Games fan-site The Hob, said, "We had a little treat. We got to go down to Lionsgate a few days early and we got to see the trailer there". Her colleague Amanda Belcher excitedly added, "So we've been freaking out for three days now", with Scott agreeing, "We've been absolutely freaking out".
The futuristic movie stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen - a young girl who volunteers to take her sisters place in a television death-match, dubbed 'The Hunger Games'.
