The Prodigy will not change their sound to embrace dubstep on their new album.

The 'Omen' group acknowledge the shift in dance music with The Rise of the bass heavy genre in recent years, but while they like the sound, they plan to stick with what they know best.

Producer Liam Howlett told BBC Radio1's Zane Lowe: "All the dubstep stuff that's around, we're loving it, but that's not our game. We won't go near it.

"We've always had respect for the masters who do their game, those boys who do that sound dubstep, that's what they do. We know what we do, and when any Prodigy record hits it'll still feel fresh."

The group have been in the studio since the end of last year, and have promised to debut new tracks when they headline Download Festival in June.

Singer Keith Flint said: "We are definitely going to bring the party and make sure it rocks. It's the only festival appearance we are doing in 2012, so we're going to make sure it's really special. We're also going to be dropping some of the new stuff that we have been doing in the studio. It's going to be f***ing ferocious."

The group are currently working on the follow up to their 2009 album 'Invaders Must Die'.
