Red Hot Chili Peppers - The Red Hot Chili Peppers Wow Bonnaroo With Career Encompassing Set

Red Hot Chili Peppers Alerts

The Red Hot Chili Peppers wowed Bonnaroo festival with a headline set that saw the veteran Californians at their funky best, reports Spinner. Playing a two-hour set, the band were full of smiles and a freshness that belied almost 30 years together as a group and on the road. Recently inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the group looked and sounded every inch worthy of their inclusion with a set that borrowed heavily from their back catalogue as well as including the latest songs from their arsenal in cuts taken from album 'I'm With You' including 'Look Around' and 'The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie' - the first songs recorded with new guitarist Josh Klinghofffer.
During the set, their bassist Flea admitted that he'd been watching the previous night's headliners Radiohead - Thom Yorke is a friend of his and they collaborated together on the 'Atoms For Peace' project - telling the audience "Last night I was standing out there, and Radiohead was so f***ing beautiful," before the band rocked into 'Throw Away Your Television.'
Closing the main body of their set with 'By The Way,' from 2002's album of the same name, the group returned for a funked-up closing trio of 'Suck My Kiss,' 'Ethiopia' and, perhaps their best known hit, 'Give It Away.'
