The Temptations, Bobby Womack and Ray Parker are among the 2012 Heroes and Legends (Hal) Awards Scholarship Foundation honourees.
The trio will join Jay Brown and singer Brandy's mum Sonja Norwood who will also be feted at the gala in Beverly Hills later this month (Sep11).
Otis Williams, the sole survivor of the original line-up of The Temptations, is thrilled with the honour, which acknowledges his band's contribution to the music industry.
He says, "I carry it on for them," he says in reference to his late bandmates Melvin Franklin, David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, and Paul Williams.
He adds, "It’s a wonderful acknowledgement. About 10 or 12 years ago I was recognised as the sole survivor, but it’s wonderful for the group to be acknowledged."
The Hal Awards were founded by veteran Motown songwriter Janie Bradford to honour positive role models.
