It's not looking good for 'The Voice UK' live tour, with the sweet taste of briefly battling 'Britain's Got Talent' in the rankings giving way to serious concerns that none of the 12 dates on sale are going to do well in terms of attendances.
The UK's Daily Mirror is reporting that not one of the shows is looking like selling out and, with tickets at 40 pound for a live version of a TV show that was attracting a meagre five million viewers by the time it had reached the semi-final stages, it's perhaps not such a surprise. Indeed, as one promoter told the newspaper "Do they really think that they can sell 160,000 tickets at 40 [pound] a pop when they couldn't even keep people watching on the telly for free? Evearyone is anticipating huge problems with this."
It's not necessarily the fact that 'The Voice' has proved unpopular specifically though, another promoter pointed to the axing of the 'Britain's Got Talent' live tour in 2011, saying "Britain's Got Talent had to admit defeat and pull the plug on the live tour in 2011 because the tickets hadn't sold - and their ratings were higher and more consistent than The Voice's." Put simply people just haven't got the money, and if audience figures weren't too fussed at the free show and its performers, it's hard to see how they're going to be persuaded to stump up cash in these tough economic times.
