A third 'Clash of the Titans' film has been given the go-ahead.

Despite 'Clash of the Titans 2: Wrath of the Titans' not being released until next March, Warner Bros. have already asked screenwriters Dan Mazeau and David Leslie to begin work on the next one.

The plot of the second instalment in the series revolves around Perseus' (Sam Worthington) rescue of Zeus (Liam Neeson) from Ares (Edgar Ramirez) and Hades (Ralph Fiennes) and insiders have suggested that a character from the sequel may play an important role in the third film.

It is thought Agenor, played by Toby Kebbell in the second movie, might factor into the story of Perseus' adventures in the third film.

The film's production team of Basil Iwanyk and Polly Johnsen will reportedly stay intact for the third film, along with director Jonathan Liebsman,.

According to Liebesman the second film - which sees Greek warriors fighting against Gods and mythical creatures - will be more "grounded" than the first. He said: "It's going to be a much more natural, gritty, grounded fantasy movie. Just think 'Gladiator' with lots of creatures, I'm excited. It's a good opportunity to do something awesome with some great actors in a great genre."
