Country star Tim Mcgraw has finally parted ways with his record label, months after launching a lawsuit against the company for trying to stall his career.
The Live Like You Were Dying hitmaker signed to Curb Records several years ago but last autumn (11), the two parties engaged in a legal wrangle over claims MCGraw reneged on his contract and failed to record his fifth and final project with the label.
In November (11) MCGraw won the right to create new material and released a new album with another record label. Earlier this month (May12) the singer finally cut a deal with chiefs at Big MAChine
He says, "Many people know that I came to Nashville (Tennessee) 23 years ago on a Greyhound bus with nothing but a guitar, and, 23 years to the day, on May 9, I went back to the bus station and officially signed this deal. Excited doesn't even begin to describe how I'm feeling about working on a new album for this next chapter in my career. Here's to the next 20 years!"
And Big MAChine founder Scott Borchetta is thrilled, adding, "We have wanted to work together for years and I can't believe this day has finally come. His level of artistry, vision, passion and energy comes along only so many times in any given era and I can tell you with the utmost confidence that there are many, many important chapters left to write."
The singer/actor will now count Taylor Swift, Reba MCEntire and Rascall Flatts among his labelmates.
MCGraw's breach of contract trial with bosses at Curb Records is due to begin in July (12).
