That $58 million that Titanic 3D reportedly earned in its debut in China? Forget it! The film actually earned $67 million, Fox International, which is distributing the movie overseas, said on Monday. The distributor said that it is not uncommon for estimates at the international box office to be off because of rudimentary electronic reporting. Fox International Co-president noted that unlike the domestic market, 3D films continue to attract moviegoers in China. The film earned just $11.6 million in its second weekend in North America. Ticket sales for Titanic have now passed the $2-billion mark. Elsewhere overseas, the sci-fi epic Battleship steamed ahead of Titanic , grossing $58 million in its debut. The film, which reportedly cost more than $200 million to produce, is opening in Europe ahead of its domestic bow on May 18 so that it will not have to compete with the Olympics and Euro 2012, the European soccer championships, during the summer.
