Tom Bosley Dies Aged 83 Of Heart Failure
Tom Bosley, the actor best known for playing 'Richie Cunningham's' father in 'Happy Days', has died aged 83 from heart failure at a hospital near his home in Palm Springs, reports BBC News. His agent confirmed that the actor had been battling lung cancer in recent years.
Happy Days, which starred Henry Winkler as 'The Fonz', and Ron Howard as Richie, ran from 1974 to 1984 and followed the idealised life of a group of friends and family living in Milwaukie, Wisconsin. After the show ended, Bosley appeared in a number of other successful series, including 'Murder, She Wrote', 'That 70's Show', and 'The Father Dowling Mysteries'.
The actor married the dancer JEAN ELIOT in 1962 and the couple had one daughter, Amy. After his wife's death in 1978, Bosley married the actress Patricia Carr. In 2004, the actor's loveable character in Happy Days was voted number-nine in TV Guide's list of the 50 Greatest TV Dads of All Time.
