The Killers saxophonist Tommy Marth was found dead in his back garden at his home in Las Vegas, the Guardian reports. Marth apparently took his own life, with the Clark County coroner recently coming on record to announce a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head found on the corpse when services arrived. He was 33.
Marth played on the band's second and third albums, becoming an integral part to the groups changing sound. Both albums, Sam's Town and Day and Age, reached number one in the UK and spawned successful tours along with them, both of which featured Marth as on-tour saxophonist. He also featured on the band's live DVD from 2009, Live From The Royal Albert Hall and may have had a part to play in the recording of the group's upcoming full-length album, although no word has been made on whether he will as of yet.
The Killers went on record to announce their member's death, taking to Twitter with this heartfelt statement: "Last night we lost our friend Thomas Marth. Our prayers are with his family. There's a light missing in Las Vegas tonight. Travel well, Tommy"
