The cast of ITV show 'The Only Way is Essex' are readying their own Christmas single - a cover of Wham's 'Last Christmas'. The stars of the BAFTA winning show, including Joey Essex and Mark Wright, will go head-to-head with the winner of The X Factor, who will also release a single in time for Xmas.
According to the Press Association, proceeds from the cover will go to charity, with the single's B-side a cover of 'The Only Way Is Up' by Yazz & The Plastic Population. Speaking about the record, Joey said, "It's something different for us and the cast is all together. It's a lot of fun. If it goes to number one, well, it's gonna be crazy", while Mark's brother Jessica said, "It's really exciting. I love singing, it's always been one of my dreams. Everyone's getting in the Christmas spirit". One hundred per cent of the profits from the single, released on 18th December, will go towards 'Text Santa' a new charity set up to raise money for various causes including Crisis, Samaritans and Great Ormond Street Hospital. Following the monumental success of The Only Way is Essex, the single is being tipped to go straight in at No.1, although bookmakers Ladbrokes still have the X Factor winner as the 3/1 favourite to take the Christmas crown.

Liverpool singer Marcus Collins is the current frontrunner to win the reality singing contest, although the voice of Irish starlet Janet Devlin would arguably lend itself better to a Christmassy song.
