You know you're in trouble if you've had to resort to going on Celebrity Big Brother in the past, and Michael Madsen's bankruptcy three years ago certainly has had the press on red alert for troubles in the actor's life. Well, they sure got some yesterday (September 12th) when the actor was arrested in Malibu for driving under the influence with an alcohol level reportedly more than double the amount of the illegal intake.

Madsen's attorney Perry Wander has since told TMZ that the whole thing has been a misunderstanding, and that the star wanted to assure his fans that he did not fail a sobriety test and he "believes that the breathalyzer test is flawed." However that statement is different from that given by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman who claims that a citizen first spotted Madsen driving erratically on PCH in Malibu in the afternoon. The police then allegedly witnessed the actor weaving in and out of traffic in a Pontiac GTO with a red flame paint job before pulling him over - upon which he smelt of alcohol.

Madsen has reportedly been booked for the DUI and has been hit with a bail of $15,000. He's still custody as it stands, whilst his car was also towed away from the scene.
