Turkey's Prime Minister has blasted producers of a popular Tv soap over their portrayal of Ottoman Empire historical hero Suleiman the Magnificent.
Tayyip Erdogan was appalled by a recent episode of the weekly drama Magnificent Century, which is set during the beloved Sultan's 16th century reign.
The politician was particularly upset by the depiction of Suleiman as a harem-dwelling cad.
Erdogan rages, "We don't know such a Suleiman. He spent 30 years on horseback, not in the palace, not what you see in that series."
Magnificent Century, which debuted at the beginning of 2011, has become one of Turkey's highest rated programmes.
