The man accused of threatening TV drug counsellor DR. Drew Pinsky has been charged with stalking.
Charles Pearson was arrested by police at Pierce College in Woodland Hills, California on Wednesday (03Mar10) after Pinsky reported him to authorities, claiming he had been sending him threatening messages over the internet.
In one, the TV medic claimed Pearson stated he would kill the star's children and make his wife eat them.
On Friday (05Mar10), Pearson was charged with one count of stalking and five counts of making criminal threats. The accused has pleaded not guilty.
He has been ordered to stay at least 500 yards away from Pinsky and his family for the next three years.
According to TMZ.com, the accused filed a small claims suit against the Celebrity Rehab host in Los Angeles County Superior Court on 8 February (10), weeks before his arrest. He is suing Pinsky for $2,500 (GBP1,560), claiming the medic "performed illegal surgery, medical mal practice... (sic)."
A court hearing for that case is set for Monday (08Mar10).
