Ugk - Ugk Honoured In Texas
Legendary hip-hop duo UGK has been inducted into the Museum of the Gulf Coast Music Hall of Fame.
Rapper Bun B attended a ceremony in Port Arthur, Texas on Sunday (02Dec12) and brought his late bandmate Pimp C's mother, Weslyn Monroe, along with him to honour his pal two days before the fifth anniversary of his death.
Accepting the accolade, the Big Pimpin' hitmaker told the crowd he was honoured to receive the recognition in his hometown, saying, "It is very hard to separate me from Port Arthur and Port Arthur from me and that's a good thing."
Monroe added, "Chad (Pimp C) loved Port Arthur so much. This is a tremendous thing today."
Pimp C, real name Chad Butler, died in 2007 after suffering an accidental drug overdose complicated by a pre-existing sleep disorder.
