While ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC all surprised advertisers with aggressive overhauls of their fall schedules, they were upstaged today (Thursday) by Spanish-language Univision, which said that it will launch a staggering 20 new shows next season. In its presentation at New York's Lincoln Center, Univision unveiled five telenovelas -- essentially soap operas with limited runs -- as well as assorted reality, variety, comedy and dramatic shows. In a statement, Univision President/CEO Joe Uva said that the Hispanic market in the U.S. is expanding exponentially. "Every marketer recognizes that the U.S. Census findings will show the new face of America and Univision is uniquely positioned to help marketers maximize their connection to this vibrant consumer base."
