Utopia founder Mark 'MOOGY' KLINGMAN has died, aged 61.
The keyboard player lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday night (15Nov11).
The news was announced via longtime collaborator and friend Todd Rundgren's Facebook.com page on Wednesday (16Nov11).
The post read, "I have some sorrowful news this morning. Last night Moogy Klingman, longtime friend and Utopian passed away after a difficult battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed."
Rundgren reformed Utopia for a one-off show in New York City earlier this year (11) to raise funds to offset Klingman's mounting medical bills.
As well as performing with Rundgren both in Utopia and as a solo artist, Klingman is known as the co-writer of Bette Midler's signature tune (You've Got to Have) Friends.
