Van Morrison has announced that he is to release a special live album in the US early next year.

The legendary singer-songwriter recorded his classic 1968 album ASTRAL WEEKS in its entirety during two dates at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in November.

Morrison will now release the re-recorded version via EMI Music.

Speaking in a statement, the Irish singer said: "I brought these records to EMI because they seem to have people with vision, who have 'ears' and who understand the significance of the complex arrangements and the classic essence of recordings like 'Astral Weeks'."

An exact release date for the special version of the legendary album has not yet been finalised.

Elsewhere, a recent gig by Morrison at the Iron Works in Inverness in aid of Cancer Research UK had to be cancelled as the venue was unable to reschedule a prior booking.

Organisers were unable to reschedule an earlier booking which had been made for rock outfit THE QUIREBOYS.
