Vandals Behead Starr Statue

Angry vandals have beheaded a statue of Ringo Starr in his hometown after THE Beatles legend made disparaging remarks about the city of Liverpool, England, in a TV interview.
The drummer appeared on a British chat show earlier this year (Jan08) and told host Jonathan Ross there was "nothing" he missed about the area since leaving to pursue his music career.
And his comments have angered people in the city who are fiercely proud of the area's link to the Beatles.
Vandals have already defaced a tribute to Starr at his former school and a statue of the star has become the next victim.
Life-sized stone models of all The Beatles members were erected at Liverpool's South Partway station last month (Mar08) to celebrate the city's status as European Capital of Culture.
But while bandmates John Lennon, Sir Paul MCCartney and George Harrison were left alone, the drummer's inanimate likeness was beheaded in what is believed to be another revenge attack.
