Vaughn Clashed With Mcavoy Over Film Council
Director Matthew Vaughn is expecting some tension on the set of his new movie X-Men: FIRST CLASS after clashing with actor MCAvoy">James McAvoy over their differing opinions on the closure of the UK Film Council.
The Scottish actor has been vocal in his opposition to government cost-cutting plans to shut down the organisation, which has provided funding for films including his 2006 picture The Last King of Scotland.
But Vaughn has come out in favour of the closure, insisting the body wasted money and the industry would be better served by a completely new organisation.
And the Stardust film-maker, who is about to start shooting the superhero movie with MCAvoy at Pinewood Studios in Britain this week (beg23Aug10), reveals the pair has already become embroiled in a discussion over the subject.
He tells Britain's Daily Mail, "James and I have discussed this. He's still in the movie... just. James is an actor and actors don't necessarily know what's best for them. That's on the record. But he's a brilliant actor and he'll be great in this film."
