Victoria Beckham's stint judging 'American Idol' didn't go too well.

According to an insider, the former Spice Girl turned fashion designer tried too hard to be 'nice' as a celebrity guest judge on the singing talent search show.

A source on the show's production crew told website Perez Hilton.com: "It didn't go too well. She tried too hard to be 'nice,' but came off as icy and wooden."

Earlier this week, Victoria had spoken of how pleased she was at landing the opportunity to star on the show alongside TV mogul Simon Cowell, songwriter Kara DioGuardi and producer Randy Jackson.

She said: "I just couldn't believe it. I feel like I got the best job that there is. I'm still grinning from ear to ear.

"I'm going to try hard to pout and not shatter the illusion that I'm a moody cow, but I don't know if I can - I'm just so happy."

Victoria is one of a number of celebrity judges who are guest starring on the show in place of departed judge Paula Abdul, who left after a pay dispute.
