Vince Neil has been hospitalised.

The Motley Crue singer was rushed to hospital on Sunday night (10.03.13) to remove kidney stones after doubling over in severe pain during a gig in Sydney, Australia, forcing the band to cut their set short by four songs.

The veteran rocker underwent emergency surgery this morning (11.03.13) and is making a speedy recovery after his health scare.

Just 30 minutes after leaving the operating table, Neil tweeted: ''Just out of surgery. Spent night in hospital probably have to again tonight. Thank you all for the kind words and prayers''.

He added: ''Huge thank you to all the paramedics at the All Phones Arena, the ambulance paramedics, the nurses, doctors and Staff (sic).''

The hardworking star has no intention of cancelling the band's current tour of Australia with Kiss and Thin Lizzy and is expected to perform in Brisbane on Tuesday night (12.03.13).

Alan Kovac, Motley Crue's manager, told news service CNN: ''In nearly 20 years of managing Motley Crue, I can't recall a show the band has cancelled.''

Guitarist Nikki Sixx has reassured fans Vince, 52, is doing well, claiming the resilient singer's prime concern was not disappointing his loyal supporters.

He said: ''He was told by the promoter to not even play but Vince said he couldn't do that to the fans. I've seen Vinnie go onstage with broken bones, his voice completely blown out and torn ligaments but he never ever cancels.

''Just like an athlete you sometimes have to play through the pain but last night it became to excruciating.''
