Retiring Mexican singer Vincente Fernandez has undergone a biopsy after doctors discovered a potentially cancerous lump on his liver.
The 72 year old went public with the news of his health problem on Monday (22Oct12) after he was honoured with his own street in Chicago, Illinois, where he asked fans to pray for him.
He went under the knife at a hospital in Houston, Texas on Tuesday (23Oct12) and the veteran star is due to meet with his medics and representatives to determine whether he will be well enough to fulfil a scheduled tour date in San Antonio on Saturday (27Oct12).
He is also booked to perform in Dallas on Sunday (28Oct12) as part of his farewell trek.
Fernandez announced his plans to bow out of the industry after one last tour in February (12).
