Veteran singer Dionne Warwick is set to headline a show in London in aid of the U.K.'s first World Hunger Day on Sunday (09Jan11).
The Walk On By legend is performing in a bid to boost the re-launch of the U.K. wing of American charity The Hunger Project, which was founded over 30 years ago and works in countries across Africa, South Asia and Latin America.
Warwick admits she couldn't resist getting involved after the charity's boss Tim Holder asked her to help raise the good cause's profile.
She says, "When Tim Holder first got in touch earlier this year to let me know about the invaluable work that the Hunger Project does around the world, asking if I could help him re-launch the charity in the U.K., I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of the process of change.
“I'm so thrilled to be able to support this project's incredible growth over recent months and am looking forward to joining the team in London.”
The concert, also featuring Natalie Cole and Mica Paris, will take place at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre.
