Ticket sales on Sunday fell off more sharply than usual, leaving the box office some 19 percent below what it was during the comparable weekend a year ago. Oblivion was the only movie to open wide, but its final total of $37.05 million was off $1.2 million from Sunday's weekend estimates, which are based on actual sales for Friday and Saturday and an educated guess for Sunday. Nearly all other films in the top came in below their estimates. The Jackie Robinson biopic 42 came in second with $17.7 million, down 36 percent from a week ago, which would ordinarily be considered a modest drop. But BoxOfficeMojo pointed out that the film had received an A+ CinemaScore rating -- and that kind of rating usually translates to an even smaller drop-off during a second weekend. The Croods placed third in its fifth week with $9.2 million, bringing its domestic gross to $154.6 million. Fourth place went to Scary Movie 5, which plunged 57 percent to just $5.15 million. Luckily for the studio, it only cost about $20 million to produce and has now grossed $26.6 million.
